Northwave Tribal Triathlon Shoes Review
The Northwave Tribal triathlon shoes have been branded as an innovative Tri shoe from Northwave which are packed full of new features.
The Tribal is worn by leading UK triathletes Andrea Whitcombe, Emma-Kate Lidbury, Michelle Dillon, Stuart Hayes and Ritchie Nicholls but the question on everyones lips is are they actually any good? Well to find out we pulled them on and took them out for a spin in the North Yorkshire hills.
The first thing that you will notice is Northwave’s distinctive red and yellow oval which we are ltold signifies original character, innovation and tremendous passion for all things cycling. The second thing that you will notice is just how light these triathlon shoes actually are; this is down to the construction of the carbon impregnated sole with is cork lined on the inside to add some comfort to the shoe. The heel of the shoe feels stronger than a lot of bike shoes and the actual fit of the shoe was good.
Obviously I didn’t test how quickly they were to pull on and off in a racing situation but the wide Velcro strap and pull loop should make them quick to slip on and the small loop inside the upper seems perfectly placed to allow the use of an elastic band to go from shoe to crank.
Out on the road the shoe felt comfortable, supportive and light when climbing. There was very little flex (as is common in carbon shoes) and overall the Northwave seemed to provide everything you need in a top of the range triathlon cycling shoe.
