However I know that a lot of people getting into cycling for the first time simply can’t afford to buy a pair of cycling shoes on top of all the other equipment that you need to take part so they have no option other than to buy running shoes to cycle in.

I also know that when you are first taking part in triathlon you might not want to commit to a lot of equipment.

You can wear running shoes for the bike leg of a triathlon and you wont lose that much time, however you must practice riding you bike before hand in your running shoes to give yourself the best chance of posting a quick bike split.

The first is a simple case it being rather cold and your feet not getting proper circulation. This one is simple to fix with a proper set of over shoes or socks.

The second is a little more complex and is caused by changes to seat height, saddle position or cleat positioning.

Thirdly it can be a simple case of your cycling shoes not fitting properly. Are they too tight? Are they rubbing somewhere? Finally your foot might not be right in your shoe and this can be corrected with a special insole.

Cycling shoes aren’t anything like running shoes or gym shoes in that where you can roughly say that a pair of running shoes might take 500 miles of punishment and then need replacing. Cycling shoes don’t live by this rule.

I ride to work and back five days a week and the pair of shoes that I wear on my daily commute I have had for the past two years and are still not showing any signs of wear and tear.

If you are doing any off road cycling then you might expect a pair of shoes to last a year or less.

The main wear and tear to cycling shoes is to the cleat and these are thankfully a lot cheaper to change that a pair of bike shoes.

Metal wires anchored to the sole support the lace fastening on the El Moros, and with the single Velcro strap fixing to a single panel that wraps both the heel cup and entire outside edge of the shoe, a snug fit is even guranteed. A narrowing toe box means these aren’t for everyone, as wide feet will need housing elsewhere, but triple layer panels on the side of the heel, and tough patches either side of the toes are very abrasion resistant. A well padded collar and tongue are comfy, and the suede upper offers low-key looks.
In conclusion…

Good overall, and very supportive, a soft(trainer like) EVA layer makes for comfy walking but the narrow fit prevents full marks.
